The Nigeria Football Federation has released guidelines for elections
into the remaining three elective positions on the board which has
been vacant.
According to a release from the Chairman, NFF electoral committee,
Barrister A. U. Mustapha (Esq.), and made available to SuperSport.com,
the elections will hold on January 29.
Delegates to form the electoral college for the elections must be club
owners/club administrators of the Nigeria National League, the Nigeria
Amateur League and the Nigeria Women League.
The Federal Character representation which promotes the geo-political
spread of public offices in Nigeria will be used for the elections.
A candidate will be qualified to contest the elections if:
a) He/She is a citizen of Nigeria in accordance with the provisions of
section 25 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of
Nigeria.
b) He/She has been educated up to the Ordinary level of the Secondary
School Certificate (WAEC/GCE) or its equivalent.
c) He/She has attained the age of 30 years.
d) He/She is a duly registered member of a club or other organization,
which is a member of the NFF in accordance with Art. 10 of the NFF
Statutes, for a period of four years, prior to the date of the
election, or has contributed or been involved in the administration of
football for at least four years prior to the date of the elections.
e) He/She produces evidence of tax payment as and when due for a
period of three (3) years immediately proceeding the year of election.
e) He/She has a verifiable means of livelihood
The spaces available on the board in consonance with Article 33(1)
paragraphs (d-f) of the NFF Statutes 2010, the available elective
offices are as follows:
a) One ordinary member who shall be Chairman of the Nigeria National League.
b) One ordinary member who shall be Chairman of the National Amateur League.
c) One ordinary member who shall be the Chairman of the Nigeria Women League.
The board of each league shall be composed of Seven (7) persons, one
(1) from each of the geo-political zones of Nigeria:
a) Chairman
b) 6 Ordinary members
The schedule for the election is as follows:
January 11, 2011: Release of revised Electoral Guidelines
January 11, 2011: Collection of new nomination forms
January 17, 2011: Deadline for return of nomination forms
January 18/19, 2011: Screening/Release of contestants in Abuja
January 20/21. 2011: Acceptance of petitions begin
January 21, 2011: Press Conference and release of qualified candidates
January 29, 2011: Election/Swearing in of elected candidates
