Maigari challenges new FIFA referees

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Aminu Maigari, has challenged the 28 newly decorated Fifa referees to be steadfast and firm in their duties.

The referees received badges of the Federation Internationale de Football Association (Fifa) to operate as Fifa referees and assistant referees this year. Six men were listed as Fifa referees, seven as assistant referees, three as women referees, four as women assistant referees, four as Futsal referees and four as Beach Soccer referees.

Represented at an impressive ceremony in Abuja, on Wednesday, by Chairman technical committee, Barrister Chris Green, Maigari said the Federation will continue to support the development and aspirations of Nigerian referees.

He also charged them to engage in self - development and self-application to their different tasks.

Speaking at the occasion, chairman of the NFF Referees committee, Alhaji Muazu Suleyman, said the referees should always aim for excellence in their performance, while realizing that they do not represent themselves but the Nigerian nation.

The decorated referees included:

Men Refs: Abubakar Ago, Joshua Amao, Benjamin Odey, Bunmi Ogunkolade, Henry Ogunyamodi, Solomon Wokoma

Men Assistant Refs: Tunde Abidoye, Robert Aundugh, Abel Baba, Auwalu Barau, Peter Edibe, Chukwudi Onumajuru, Zubairu Sani

Women Refs: Foluso Ajayi, Uloma Nwogu, Felicia Okwugba
Women Assistant Refs: Grace Agudosi, Stella Eloji, Elizabeth Igwenagu, Bosede Momoh

Futsal Refs: Mark Agbo, Saheed Ayeni, Ibrahim Umar, Paul Umuago

Beach Soccer Refs: Suleiman Jimeta, Sani Mohammed, Jelili Ogunmuyiwa, Michael Ushie
