The Nigeria Football Federation will on Wednesday converge on Uyo, the Akwa-Ibom state capital for the conclusive part of its 2010 Annual General Assembly.
NFF President Aminu Maigari, members of the executive committee and principal officers of the secretariat flew into Uyo, on Tuesday, as delegates from the football associations of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory also arrive for the General Assembly.
According to the NFF’s Chief Media Officer, Ademola Olajire, the first part of the 2010 Annual General Assembly was held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, on August 26, but only the elections into the NFF Executive Committee was dealt with.
On Wednesday, the programme at the Meridian Hotel, Uyo will be preceded by a welcome address by NFF President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari, before a presentation of the President’s activities, consolidated and revised balance sheet as well as the profit-and-loss statement.
Olajire added that the General Assembly will also approve the financial statements and the NFF’s budget for 2011.
“It’s a heavily loaded year with programmes such as the African and Under-20 world cup competitions (Libya and Colombia respectively), the Fifa women’s world cup (Germany), the All-africa games (Mozambique), friendly matches, qualifiers for the 2012 African cup of nations (Gabon and Equatorial Guinea), qualifiers for the 2012 Olympic games (London), beach soccer and futsal competitions as well as other critical programmes,” Olajire stated in a release made available to SuperSport.com
The General Assembly is composed of chairmen and secretaries of the football associations of the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory, representatives of the leagues (Nigeria Premier League, Nigeria National League, Nigeria Women’s League and Nigeria Amateur League), representatives of referees, coaches and players’ union will meet.
Others are associate/consultative members from the National Sports Commission, Senate committee on sports, House of Representatives committee on sports, Nigeria Army, Nigeria Police, National Association of Physical, Health Education, Recreation, Sport and Dance, Inter-collegiate, Sports writers association of nigeria, Nigeria football supporters club and the Nigeria school sports federation.
There will also be discussion of proposals submitted by the members and the executive committee, appointment of independent auditors and other issues proposed by the members or the NFF executive committee.
